Getting to know the Capitol house in Topeka, KS

In front of the Capitol building.

Inside the Capitol everything is so richly ornamented!

Walls of the wide hallways display paintings that tell the history of Kansas.

The second floor balustrade shows the main hall underneath...

...whence the dome can be seen.

 

 

Governors use this office for their first term to sign important documents.

Tribute is paid to former American president, Dwight Eisenhower, as a famous kansan. 

John Brown is depicted fighting against slavery in this mural painted by J. S. Curry in the hallway of the east wing on the second floor.

In the House of Representatives.

Over the arched windows in the House of Representatives there are tributes to those who fought against slavery. Jonh Brown's name is obviously there.

I also didn`t know the word CABOOSE,  which was a train car for the driver and technicians.

This is what happened to disruptive students in the past. 

The teacher also had to be a musician.

Doctors' and Dentists' offices were usually located upstairs from a pharmacy or a  coffee shop.

At the Methodist Church in Old Prairie Town.  Everything in the church is original, except the location.  It was totally removed from the original site and brought to Topeka to represent a 19th century village.
